A new work by artist Giorgio Vazza enriches the cycle-pedestrian path through the Santa Croce Lake Nature Oasis.
The sculpture, made by intertwined branches, is entitled “Chiocciola – elogio alla lentezza” (Snail – praise for slowness), a slowness to focus on the essential aspects of existence. Vazza worked by involving the young people of the Gog-Gruppo operativo giovani of the Alpago municipality. The collaboration, which has been going on for several years, has resulted in a series of Land Art creations: the Nest, the Fish, the Eye, the Bird, the Horse, the Egg and, last year, the Robe, a tribute to the Vajont victims.
“Art is about sending messages so we tried to praise slowness because today’s world runs too fast and we lose sight of reality and the most important things,” says the artist. “The spiral shape becomes an invitation to rediscover the value of time and represents the shaping, the form, the sacrifices each girl and boy made in twisting the branches to give the work its final technical aspect”.
Vazza’s works are fascinating and mysterious. They invite us to get on our bikes and, pedalling slowly, stop unhurriedly in front of each one of them, which, as the seasons go by, inexorably transform themselves and slowly unravel, becoming part of the Nature again. https://www.anellodellavalbelluna.it/sinistra-piave/ https://www.anellodellavalbelluna.it/sinistra-piave/
