The Province of Belluno
The province of Belluno, totally mountainous, is located in the northern part of the Regione Veneto. Most of the province is occupied by the Dolomiti Unesco National Heritage. Val Belluna is located in the southern part of the province and is surrounded, in the south , by the mountain chain of the Prealpi Bellunesi with Col Visentin, Monte Cesen and Monte Grappa. In the north Val Belluna is dominated by the Schiara Group, Monte Pizzocco, Monti del Sole and Vette Feltrine. The latter group belong to the National Park of the Dolomiti Bellunesi, established in 1990.
Belluno, with its 35000 inhabitants, is the principal town of the province while Feltre, with its 20000 inhabitants, is the second most important town. Both are towns rich in art and history.
