Waterfalls, lakes and crystal clear gorges: the Mis Valley offers spectacular nature and guaranteed coolness on hot summer days, along one of the most fascinating detours of the Ring.
Among the most surprising detours of the Val Belluna Ring, the Mis Valley stands out for its wild beauty and refreshing climate, ideal for escaping the summer heat. Located in the heart of the Belluno Dolomites National Park, between the impenetrable walls of the Monti del Sole and the Pizzocco group, this valley surprises with its abundance of water that flows down gorges and side valleys into the lake below.
The valley can be reached from Bribano along the “via delle antiche rogge” (the ancient irrigation channels route) – here is the route, but also from Belluno heading towards Sospirolo along secondary roads – here is the route. Along the narrow and picturesque Mis Valley, the route becomes increasingly spectacular: you cycle alongside deep gorges, waterfalls and, above all, through numerous tunnels carved into the rock. For this reason, it is essential to have front and rear lights that work properly.
A must-see stop is the Cadini del Brenton, a series of spectacular natural potholes carved into the rock, connected by panoramic walkways that allow you to admire the turquoise water up close. A little further on, the thunderous Soffia Waterfall offer a powerful and refreshing natural spectacle. Higher up, Gena Alta and Gena Media, two ancient rural settlements forgotten for decades, are being brought back to life.
