The daily detour of about 20 km allows one to reach the Mis valley, in the heart of the Belluno Dolomites National Park. Squeezed between the high and impenetrable walls of the Monti del Sole and the Pizzocco group, the valley is surprising for the abundance of water that descends through ravines and lateral valleys into the lake below. The Soffia waterfalls and the Cadìni del Brentòn are two wonders of nature not to be missed. Further up, perched on the left slope of the Cordevole, Gena Alta and Gena Media, two ancient rural settlements forgotten for decades, are being reinhabited and can be visited, with a steep climb, even by bicycle.

The valley can be reached from Bribano along the ” via delle antiche rogge” (the way of the ancient millraces), a good dirt road which winds first along the Cordevole stream and then through the “masière”, a chaotic and evocative expanse of rocks that originated in the Ice Age from an immense landslide detached from Mount Peron.

In just 20 km, the detour allows one to visit two museums and a valley within the Belluno Dolomites National Park. The Ethnographic Museum Dolomiti focuses on the daily life of the rural population of Belluno from the end of the 19th century to today. The Rose Garden preserves many varieties of ancient roses which were found in the territory of the province.

The Toni Bevilacqua historical bicycle museum is one of the most important museums in Italy for this topic. It offers a vast collection of bicycles, accessories, and memories of national and international cycling, with exhibits ranging from 1791 to the present day.

Following the Caoràme stream upwards for about 7.5 km full of natural landscapes of rare beauty, one arrives at the small artificial lake of the Stùa, in the heart of the Canzòi valley, one of the main gateways to the park. At the beginning of the valley, perched on a spur in a panoramic position, there is the village of Montagne, a handful of rural houses with a typical architecture characterized by the “Piòl”, i.e., wooden terraces used to move from one floor to another and utilized for the drying of agricultural products.

The ancient architectural complex, located in a strategic position overlooking “the sluice” of the river Sonna, on the spur of Monte Miesna, can be reached with an enjoyable detour of about 2 km. From the hillock, the entire Feltre area is dominated with a 360-degree view: from the Piave, to Grappa, to the ancient walled city of Feltre, to the plain enlivened by hills and villas, to the pre-Dolomite backdrop of the Vette Feltrine.

Originally created for defensive purposes, the Sanctuary of Ss Vittore and Corona belonged to the line of castles built to defend the Feltre area. Today it is the most important religious monument in the Feltre area and stores precious frescoes from the Giotto school. In the beautiful 15th century cloister, the extraordinary frescoes in the lunettes illustrate the history of Feltre and the Sanctuary.

The Natural Reserve of Vincheto di Celarda can be reached with a brief detour from the main route. The reserve extends over a river strip of about ninety-nine hectares in the Municipality of Feltre, in the Celarda area, and is managed by the Arma dei Carabinieri – Territorial Office for Biodiversity of Belluno. It is a wetland of international interest and is a biogenetic reserve of European interest. Its name derives from the cultivation of wicker willows, in fact the “vinchi” are the flexible branches of the plant.

The Vincheto di Celarda is a humid area very rich in water which characterises the local landscape with marshes, ponds, small lakes and resurgences along which the lake vegetation grows abundantly. Furthermore, there are also red fir trees, scots pines, ash trees, alders, poplars and willows. The presence of floristic species typical of wetlands and of a great variety of species of spontaneous orchids is significant.

The reserve allows the visitor to observe numerous species of migrant and sedentary avifauna including gray herons, mallards, moorhens and kingfishers.
